FAV B00K ASSiNGMENT--DUE FEB 1st

Dear 9th Grade Students,

I have recently read a book called "The Darkside Of Nowhere", written by Neal Shusterman, which I beleive may Interest you. I liked the book because i was unable to put it down without getting anxious as to what would happen next, it's just one of those books that always has SOMETHING going on alllllllllll the time. The characters seemed so real, although its Science Fiction, the reactions seemed so "today", and the drama needless to say, AWSOME. It's like Juicy Gossip, you just have to know everything!

So theres this Guy, 14, named Jason. Jason has a friend, well not a friend, a girlfriend, named Paula. Paula moved to Billinton, Jason's hometown, from New Jersey. Paula's lifestyle in New Jersey was totally different then Billingtons. And as Paula tries to understand the history of Billington, Jason finds out he isn't normal, him and the rest of Billington, accept for Paula. Jason has this weird Janitor telling him to meet him places, telling him he is the "one", and convinces him into taking control. Now, Jason has to make a choice, wether to do what this crazy Janitor says, or stick with Paula, he can't have both. Everyone is changing into there REAL skin. That dreadfully beautiful skin, Alien like body, but yet still amazing. Now, after everyone is changing, Jason is the only one who remains the same, Human, but only because he used old Syrum to keep him that way, and yet still, he has to choose.....World Domination.....or Paula?

Anywho, do you understand how the book is like sugar high, gets you hype and anxious?? You got a kid who discovers he's basically what people call an Alien and has stolen the face of some guy who lived on earth 20 years ago! Not to mention, he's in love with a non-alien-like-girl. He has little kids who have been brainwashed, and so himself, and he must tell them "the world must be ours".....when in fact he doesn't want it himself. The book is truely breathtaking and a blink-free , you can't take your eyes off it, I know i couldn't! I really think you should all read it.

Nevertheless, this book is freggin awsome! Most books have drama....then nothing....and then drama. "The Dark Side Of Nowhere" has drama allllll throughout the book. Although its Science Fiction, these are the reactions of how real poeple would outcome. Although aliens do not exist, in my opinion, some part of these people were still human, and had human emotions. You can almost say this book wasn't science fiction, minus the Clone Syrum and Spaceships and Satalite Dishes and whatnot. For instance, Love, love is a deep emotion that can takeover someones character, wether or not you are human or inhuman, doesn't matter.

And why should you read "The Darkside Of Nowhere"..? Wether or not you read it, thats really up to you, i'm just stating why its my favorite book, and why you should read it. I've already told you its Awsome, has ALOT of drama, has characters with REAL life emotions and Reactions [[sorta!]], and how much i really enjoyed it, it's up to you to go and read it! Read'em or Weep! I've told you everything, all the juicy gossip you just haaaddd to know, so go! Go! Go! and Read "The Dark Side Of Nowhere"!

READING L0G...

"THE DARK SIDE OF NOWHERE" by Neal Shusterman

Characters: Jason, Paula,Wes,Ethan,Mr. Grant,Students of Billington high, and Parents of Jason

As far as I got into the book, everyone ACCEPT Paula is normal, according to the people of Billington. Paula came from New Jersey. Theres also one other strange person in the book, Mr. Grant. He seems to be in peoples bussiness, and creeps up on you at any given time. Mr. Grant gave Jason a glove, which Jason found out was also to be considered a BB Gun....but in fact the gun shoots upon your nerves. Now, who is this Mr. Grannttttt guy...??!!!! We dont know yet, but will soon find out. He says "your parents have chosen to forget, you'll have to remind them". Remind them of what?! If thats not creepy enough, Jason and Paula took a stride through Old Billington, which got wiped out "mysteriously" of a storm a while back, and found a picture of one of there fellow students, but the picture was taken YEARS ago, it wasn't a look-a-like, but how did the child look so much like the boy, Billie??

We'll find out....

Reading Log Part 5

PART 5; READING LOG 12/07/06 THE BABY-SITTER (BOOK 3 & 4) (book 3) Written by, R.L. STINE

Ok...In book three...Jenny got a new job as the Doughnut Hole (ew, who wants to spend the whole summer workin at a doughnut hole?). Jenny had been invited to go to her cousins house for the summer, her cousin Debra. Debra was the typical "pretty girl" with alot of....um....choices? AGAIN Jenny found herself Baby-sitting....but it was really Debra who was doing the babysitting...but Jenny had come with her (after all she'd been though i dont know what in the world made her agree to it, i surely wouldn't have...). So, while Jenny was in her cousins neighborhood...she found a job working for Debras boyfriends uncle down with horses and helping the little kids get settled on there horses and whatnot. Before when Jenny left to go to her cousins, she told Cal [[her boyfriend]] and he didn't take it so "as she would have wanted" him to. He insisted on comming down with her, but Jenny said no [[i don't see why she said know, she didn't want to leave him because they had plans for the whole summer, and he hadn't done anything besides stand by her during her times of need]]. So, while she was with her cousin she found out Cal had ran away, he had gotten into a fight with his mother about the car (a car? thats no reason to get into an argument and run away for!). But, Debra was the one getting the calls from Mr. Harrison....they werent meant for Jenny...they were for Debra (this kind of cought me off guard because the main character was the baby sitter, who was Jenny at first..and then it switched to Debra...then Debra got calls from the "dead but still alive man"(???) so it had me thinking like the book wasn't about Jenny anymore) BUT then Jenny had thought about Mr. Harrison so much in her head she was possessed by him. Jenny stole the baby and when Debra tried to get it back Jenny was talking like Mr. Harrison saying "this is my daughter, you killed her" and "the baby-sitter must die". After alll of that..............Jenny was sent to a doctor (well she needed to!! she was CRAZY! I wouldn't want to live with a crazy person...i'd find myself scared all the time lol )

PART 4; READING LOG 11/28/06 THE BABY-SITTER (BOOK 1 & 2) (Book 2) Written by, R.L. STINE

Jenny has gotten a new baby sitting job with a little boy named Eli. Eli is like this reallyy really smart 10 year old. He's a "MECHANICAL GENIUS", so he says. He even made his own computer!! Thats a little weird to me, i know grown men who don't even know how to turn on a computer...let alone make one! Eli's parents think of him fist, but not like Mr. Harrison did in BOOK 1 ... When Eli had gotten mad at Jenny he wouldn't even talk to her, and Jenny told his parents and instead of them getting angry with Eli, they told Jenny to be very nice...and not try to say anything to hurt his feelings, because when you "loose" Eli, its hard to get him back. Also, since the last encounter with Mr. Harrison Jenny has been seeing a therapist. Jenny's therapist thinks....or he just stated that it could have been in her imagination...a hulusination that she had heard Mr. Harrison call AGAIN! The calls have been arriving once again...the same voice Mr. Harrison had. And not to mention, Jenny and Chuck are over, chuck is very sad and emotional and doesn't act all "goofy" like he use to.....Jenny won't go back out with him, and he's got revenge and hurt on his mind for her. Jenny recently went on a date with some new kid in town...a real weirdo if you ask me, and a little creepy. I doubt that the person who had called Jenny was the "new guy" because that would be too easy to guess...so i think its either between Chuck and Eli....but most likely its Chuck...because Eli was never told the story...

Calls have been arriving once again....and something is going to happen!............

PART 3; READING LOG 11/20/06

THE BABY-SITTER (BOOK 1 & 2) Written by, R.L. STINE

Ok, last post I had told you (whoever is reading this) that i thought that Mr. Harrison was the baby-sitter-basher...well I was right!! I figured from how much he worries alot about Donny that he had to be the baby-sitter-basher. Well for one, he worried a little too much. Two, the picture of the little girl (i told you in the Reading Log Part 2) was actually his daughter but she died...so i figured he was killing every babysitter who didn't do a very good job as to giving Donny 100% of there attention, therefor he blaimed the babysitter for killing his daughter and who could not give his child all there attention was to blame. Anyways, Jenny was caught in the house with Laura, Eugene(her boyfriend), and Chuck. Mr. Harrison had cought them making out on the couch in there house, AFTER Mr. Harrison had already specifically told her not to have any visitors. After that, Chuck, Laura, and Eugene had left, well they were basically told to get out, more like being kicked out then leaving when they were good and ready. So, after that, Mr. Harrison insisted on taking Jenny home early that night but instead of taking her home he took her to the quarry, which was like a dead end he could push her into. He basically tried to kill her and was telling her what happened to his little girl, the baby-sister was not giving his daughter 100% of her attention and she was too late to save the little girl because she had died., and he blamed it all on her. And so then Willers came, and tried to stop him. Willers tried to convince Harrison to stop where he was but he plunged at Jenny but she moved and BAM! Harrison fell down the dead end, so sad. Willers explained that he was the police officer that she was told to contact when she called to give in a complaint about threatening calls (the calls were from Harrison, what a creep?!) and that he had been assigned to the case when the baby-siter-bashers had continued to killing baby-siters. It seems that when Harrisons little girl had died he had beatin up the the childs baby-sitter pretty bad, and was taken to court, and ever since then he had worried about his children a great deal....

PART 2; READING LOG 11/16/06

THE BABY-SITTER (BOOK 1 & 2) Written by, R.L. STINE

Ok, last Reading Log I told you they were playing Hide and seek, and everything, am i wrong? Anyways.... Now Jenny likes this boy named Chuck, he's a jokester really. He was the one breathing on the phone that day that sent her into a crazy state of mind. BUT, Jenny got other calls....threatening type calls. They'd call and say "are you all alone in that big house? Don't worry, company's comming!" CLICK. Chuck swore that wasn't him though, not to mention that she got a note....who's she sure is the person who called. Also, theres this crazy "neighbor", Mr. Willers. Jenny found him around the house, supposedly he was there because he "heard something". Jenny found out that the neighbor wasn't a neighbor.... the house he was "supposedly" living in was a vacant...ALSO since the baby-sitter bashers are still on the loose, I'm guessing It's Mr. Willers, only because he was caught hanging around Mr. & Mrs. Willers house, and had once asked Jenny If she was all alone in that house...seems like a weird dude...ALSO ... Mr. Harrison is a "worrior", he worries about Donny 24/7 ... but i found out that they had another child, i'm guessing from a while back and maybe she died [[there was a picture in the house that had a little girl that looked just like Donny, and also because when Donny tricked Jenny & Mr. Harrison into thinking he was "gone" out of the house, his father, Mr. Harrison screamed "NOT AGAIN!"]] ......

Thats just what happened so far

OK, the main charatsers name is Jenny. She has a friend named Laura. There teens, think about BOYS alot and do things teens do. Jenny, met this little boy named Donny, he looks like a little kid straight out of the movies and catalogues, cute kid. Jenny met the little boy down in the mall and basically helped saved his life because he was about to jump off of a fountain to catch his dolly, (what little boy carries a dolly??) So, Donny's parents finally found him in the mall, and they talked a little and Laura and Donny became well aqauinted and Donny's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison asked Jenny to baby-sit. So, Jenny said yes. So, also, there has been this person out who hurts baby sitters, so Jenny better watch out....not to mention that Mr. & Mrs. Harrisons house is practically the oldest house ever! It's very .... old, like squeaking on the floor when you walk type of old. Donny wants to play hide-and-seek , what if he gets hurt? A big old house like that could get you cought up and hurt....Jenny got a strange phonecall, hard breathing on the phone but not from her nor the 6 year old kid Donnie who was listening to the conversation....something weird is going on...thats as far as I got...I"ll write more soon...
